Anti-Bullying & Harassment Policy
Stonewall Sports Chicago strives to provide safe spaces for LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Ally) individuals to play intramural sports, enhance the social environment of the greater Chicago LGBTQIA community, and provide opportunities to contribute to the overall community. We are committed to providing an experience that affirms the dignity and value of all individuals without regard to age, race, ethnicity, national origin, religious or spiritual beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, socioeconomic status, physical or mental abilities, size, appearance, or any other basis for exclusion.
In pursuit of these efforts, all members of the organization are expected to adhere to the following Anti-Bullying and Harassment Policy, covering conduct at all Stonewall Sports Chicago activities. Violation of any of the following policies may result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from Stonewall Sports Chicago, determined by the Board of Directors and based on the facts of each specific situation.
Bullying
Stonewall Sports Chicago denounces any form of bullying and will not tolerate it under any circumstances. For purposes of this policy, bullying shall be defined as persistent, malicious, unwelcome, severe and/or pervasive mistreatment that harms, intimidates, offends, degrades or humiliates a member, whether verbal, physical or otherwise.
Examples may include, but are not limited to: nonverbal demonstrations of hostility (such as staring with the intent to intimidate), social exclusion or isolation, personal attacks (verbal and nonverbal), stalking, and aggressive physical contact.
Harassment
For purposes of this policy, harassment shall be defined as any behavior, motivated by discriminatory animus, that is unwelcomed and offensive to the person(s) towards whom it is targeted. Sexual harassment shall be defined as behavior of a sexual nature that is unwelcome or offensive to the person(s) it is directed towards.
Examples may include, but are not limited to: unwanted physical contact, foul language of an offensive sexual nature, sexual propositions, sexual jokes or remarks, obscene gestures, and displays of pornographic or sexually explicit images.
Stonewall Sports Chicago encourages all of its members to report any instance(s) of bullying or harassment to a league management member, Commissioner or another member of the Board of Directors. Reporting may also be done via email by messaging our Chairperson of the Board directly at chicago.jp@stonewallsports.org. All reports will be treated seriously and investigated with promptness and impartiality. Every effort will be made to protect the reporter from retaliation and/or reprisal.
